About Me
Korina is a citizen of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, living in the Twin Cities with her partner and daughter. She is an organizer, full-spectrum doula, prison doula, trained midwifery assistant, and certified type 2 wildland firefighter.
Korina is formally trained and was previously licensed as a social worker in the state of Minnesota. After nearly 15 years of supporting Indigenous children, youth and families in the area of Indian Child Welfare, she made the decision to step away from the field. For the past 5 years, Korina has spent time growing her skills and deepening relationships around Indigenous rights advocacy. During this time, she also had her first child, which inspired her journey into birthwork and ignited a commitment to birth justice.
Korina has a Bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology and American Indian Studies and Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota. Korina completed her doula certification with the Zaagi’idiwin. She is trained in anti-oppressive facilitation and narrative strategy.
